Golf In Calabria

Calabria is moving in the direction of Golf tourism.

Law
proposal No. 71 provides for an investment of 50 million for the
construction of five golf courses, with associated accommodation
facilities in Calabria.

Golf Tourism also means employment opportunity.

This
would increase tourism, and the region could benefit of having tourists
12 months a year (just like the region, The Algarve in Portugal. At
present the Calabrian tourist season is mainly linked to seaside tourism
and the mountainous area, and focuses primarily in the summer months
and the winter ones in December and January however this is not
enough.”Tourism is a source that should develop and grow.

Golf tourism is an important economic opportunity in support of the hotel industry and the entire regional tourism system.

Golf
courses offer the highest contribution to the environment and the
recovery of degraded natural areas, as they are aimed at the
implementation and management of vast green areas, then, with the
exaltation of the typical natural beauty of the area.

And these
measures, it reads, “related to the spread of golf facilities in
Calabria are part of a wider plan to reform the entire Calabrian tourist
offer. In this sense, other three bills have already been filed which
are designed to expand the tourist offer of our region starting from the
territorial vocations. “It is, therefore, the economic value of
cultural landscapes to the sustainable regeneration of historic urban
centers to the reference Italian Mediterranean diet enhancement.
Initiatives that “finally make the Calabria region attractive for
tourism for 12 months a year.”

In short, it is expected to boost
tourism (it is expected a golfing tourists flow of about 375,000 people
every year, all out of the classical tourist season).

Thus, the
Region will make two calculations: “Considering that the expenditure for
the construction of a golf facility amounts to EUR 10 million (and thus
total of 50 million if it is expected the construction of 5 facilities)
the cost per direct job would be amounting to 37,000 euro (50 million
euro / 1,350 employees), absolutely one of the lowest in Europe.”

There
should be a golf course in each province, the locations could be chosen
among the following which have already preperad a business plan:
Gizzeria, Simeri, Castrolibero, Le Castella, Strongoli  Foce del Neto,
Sibari and Limbadi-Nicotera.
