The housing market in Italy has long had a reputation for being difficult to access and cumbersome purchasing processes.

But
in recent years it has become easier to both locate and purchase
housing here. Low prices since the financial crisis create discovery
mode for hungry Swedes in several regions.

Among the countries
that most Swedes are choosing to move abroad to the ports of Spain in
second place after the United States. Italy is only in tenth place with
only 12,000 of the 660,000 Swedes living abroad for more than six
months, according to a survey by the association Swedes in the World.

One
reason that so many more people are choosing Spain before Italy could
be that Spain has long been a traditional holiday destination for Swedes
think Karin Ehnbom-Palmquist, general secretary of the Swedes in the
World.
